Courtney Blacksten

I joined the youth staff from God’s country (for those who don’t know by now, that’s Oklahoma)!

I graduated from Oklahoma City University (OCU) in May 2008 with a BA in Religion/Youth Ministry. I am currently a student intern at the Center for Youth Ministry Training, a 2-year job placement program that matches students with partner churches, where they serve in the youth ministry department while participating in the CYMT program and take classes from Memphis Theological Seminary. At the end of the program I will obtain a Master of the Arts in Youth Ministry from MTS.

While traveling around South America with some friends a few summers back, I became engaged to my college beau, Brandon. We met during our undergrad at OCU. Brandon is also from Oklahoma but is currently pursuing his MDiv at Vanderbilt. I love getting to spend time with Brandon, even though right now much of that time is spent reading for classes. We enjoyed a picture perfect wedding on July 17, 2010 back in Oklahoma and are looking forward to this new season of our lives together as husband and wife.

I am excited about living in Nashville, there is so much to do and see! I enjoy reading, going to the movies, shopping, and being outside (when it’s warm). I also like to travel and am obsessed with all things Disney!

I am so blessed to be working at such an incredible church! I love getting to know and hang out with the youth. They are really great kids!
